New Horizon wasn’t born in a boardroom. It was forged on mountain peaks, in the ocean’s swell, and through years of pushing limits. Founders Dave “Swany” Swanwick and Nich Wilson share a lifelong love for adventure, movement, and the pursuit of feeling their best.
From the Slopes to the Science
Swany’s journey started in New York City as a first-generation American, but the mountains of Colorado became his true home. A pro skier for over a decade, he lived for deep powder days, competing in the X Games, starring in TGR and Warren Miller films, and heli-ski guiding across the world. But after years of skiing 200+ days a year, the wear and tear caught up. Searching for something better than traditional pain relief, Swany discovered a game-changing hemp extract offering all the benefits without the sluggish side effects.
From the Surf to the Lab
Nich, born in Colorado and raised on the Southern California coast, grew up chasing waves and patrolling the beaches as a lifeguard. When there was snow, he was in the mountains. His career took him into the world of hemp extraction, where he co-founded KND Labs, one of the world’s top producers of premium CBD ingredients.
The New Horizon Breakthrough
Swany and Nich’s paths first crossed years earlier, working together in global marketing. When Swany joined KND Labs, he saw firsthand the potential of hemp-derived extracts; particularly a revolutionary 5:1 CBD to THC ratio that delivered all the positive effects without the drawbacks of traditional cannabis.
That’s when the idea clicked. What if they could create something that gave people the benefits of hemp in a clean, effective, and approachable way?
Teaming up with industry expert Evan Doty, New Horizon was born.
